CLAIRE SECORD
Instructor
Claire was born and raised in Macomb, MI, and has been dancing since the age of 2. She trained on the competitive team at Rhythm Pointe Dance Academy for 10 years and taught at the studio during her last few years there. During her years as a competitive dancer, she has received many first-place awards and national titles. Additionally, Claire has had the opportunity to be a part of some amazing performances such as the Moscow Ballet’s Nutcracker, America’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and much more. Claire also worked with the USPBL Dance Crew at Jimmy John’s Field since its founding in 2018 and had the pleasure of being a Lead for the last few seasons.
Claire is trained in all styles of dance, with tap being her favorite. She has passed Cecchetti Ballet Exams I through IV and also studied Grade V. As an accomplished tap dancer, Claire was invited to become a member of The Notorious Tappers, a local tap troop dedicated to furthering a dancer’s tap technique while offering additional performance opportunities.
In addition to dance, Claire is going into her senior year at the University of Michigan studying Cognitive Science with a minor in Crime and Justice. Alongside her passion for dance, school has always been a very important part of her life. Aside from her studies, she is a part of a student-led dance group on campus called RhythM Tap Ensemble and is currently a part of the executive board.
Claire believes that dance should be a safe space for self expression and values the importance of building up every dancer’s confidence. Claire is so excited to be joining the Elite Dance Lab family and hopes to instill a love for dance in her students like she has! Drawing from her extensive experience in the dance world, Claire has seen how important it is to strengthen dancers’ belief in themselves and, likewise, strives to be a positive example for her students! It goes so much farther than dance! She hopes to help her students be the best people they can be!
