OUR PROGRAMS

CLASSES WE OFFER

*Pre-Pro's are required to take all styles*

ACADEMY: At The Lab we realize knowing how dance got to where it is today is just as important as the technique behind it. During Academy class, dancers learn about different influential people within the industry including but not limited to the faculty from conventions they attend and different prestigious dance organizations across the country. We also work with the Pre-Pros to create and maintain dance based social media accounts that can be used for scouting by universities

BALLET: Ballet is where technique is formed and perfected. Each Pre-Pro takes 2-3 ballet classes per week in order to continue to focus on proper alignment, rotation, carriage, and lift not just to further their technical ability but to keep the dancers safe while perfecting various other styles

MOVEMENT: Dancers will explore a modern based approach to their dancing. The emphasis is on telling a story through movement, texture, use of space, and other modern based techniques.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING: Keeping dancers safe is a huge focus for The Lab. We make sure the dancers not only know proper technique, but we make sure to build the strength they need to support that technique. Dancers will use wrist and ankle weights, therabands, yoga blocks, and dumbbells in guided exercises to build strength in areas like hip flexors, back muscles, and core.

TAP: Because all Pre-Pro dancers attend convention, we require everyone to take tap. Tap helps dancers work on counts and rhythms as well as keeps them well rounded for future dance endeavors.

TECHNIQUE: Dancers work on connecting various tricks working across the floor and focusing on transitions. They also experiment with different choreography styles including improv and working on their own choreography that they have the opportunity to teach to their peers.

TUMBLING: Each dancer works at their own pace to achieve various tumbling skills making them proficient tumblers.

TURNS & JUMPS: Dancers will work on expanding their vocabulary of tricks. We not only breakdown turns and jumps the dancers already know to make sure proper technique is being used but we work on staying on top of the most cutting-edge skills in the industry.
